Woman 'Lucky to be Alive' After Hypothetical Pipe Burst
A woman 'nearly suffered a heart attack' this afternoon after being startled by a mysterious loud noise coming from an unknown source. According to an eyewitness, the sound erupted when she sat on the bathtub's edge to apply sunscreen to her legs.
"She came flying through the kitchen wearing nothing but a towel," said her daughter. "She screamed something about a water leak and then ran downstairs to the basement. She was running so fast, I don't know how the towel stayed on."
The girl said her mother was still "freaking out" when she came back upstairs. "She blew past me full speed, pointed to the patio door, and yelled for me to go outside to see if I heard anything," she said, adding that her mother returned a few minutes later, partially dressed.
"She ran out of her bedroom, pulling a shirt over her head, and took off out the front door. I had no idea what was going on, so I went outside to see," said the girl. When I came back, the door was locked, and my mother was nowhere in sight."
The boyfriend of the woman, who was out of town on business, said he received a frantic call shortly after lunchtime. "She was out of breath, shouting inaudibly," he said. "She assured me everyone was safe, but she was concerned a pipe might have burst into the basement. She said she looked downstairs and walked around the perimeter but didn't see anything." He said her story wasn't quite adding up, so he asked her to explain in detail what happened.
According to the boyfriend, the woman was sitting on the edge of the bathtub when she heard a clamorous noise followed by rushing water. "She said it sounded like it was coming from underneath the tub and was so loud she almost had a heart attack."
The man then asked if she thought she may have accidentally hit the knob on the whirlpool. "That's when the phone went silent, and she burst out laughing."
